Tips and tricks for Halloween during a pandemic

Here are some tips for having a safe Halloween this year:

  • Check with your local municipality or public health unit for any additional recommendations or restrictions that may be in place.
  • Stay home if you are feeling ill, even if you have mild symptoms or if you are at higher risk of contracting Covid-19. Turn off your porch light and don’t hand out treats if you are sick.
  • Avoid gatherings with people outside of your household.
  • Participants should wear face masks.
  • Avoid high touch surfaces such as railings and doorbells.
  • Whether you are collecting or handing out treats, wash your hands often or use hand sanitizer

Instead of trick and treating try these fun activities with the kids:

  • Dress the kids up
  • Have a candy hunt with your household
  • Carve pumpkins
  • Have a scary movie night with the whole family
